Clarity
Your relationship with me begins with an initial conversation by phone and then a meeting to decide whether we like each other and it’s clear I can help you. This is where I spend as much time as possible listening to you and your current circumstances and what it is that you want to achieve in the future. It’s a conversation all about you rather than your money. The intent of these meetings is to allow you the time to gain clarity about your personal ambitions and if there is anyone you would like to share these with.
Here we are encouraged to make your objectives specific, measurable, realistic and timebound. My challenge to you is to think of money in a different way. Rather than a focus on increasing the amount of money you have, we give your money a purpose to achieve your life goals.
Comprehension
Once we have clarity about what you are planning for, we can gather together all the details about your current financial position. This is where we gather everything together to look at the entirety of what you have and where it is. We look at the assets you have including your house, pensions, investments, cash, your income and your expenditure, what you may owe including your mortgage and any other borrowings.
We will continue to talk about your wishes and your Will if you have one.
Choice
Once we have completed the steps of Clarity, what you are looking to achieve, and Comprehension, what resources you have available to you, we can look at the various options available to you and we can look at a number of ‘what ifs’. What if I stop working now, what if I don’t stop working now. What income you need year after year to reach the place you want to be.
Are you holding back spending or retiring, can your quality of life be improved by knowing more about your entire financial position?
Control
This is where we consider whether all your financial resources are in the best place to give you a good chance of achieving your plan. What can we do to help you improve your chance of success? This is the point where we consider any financial changes that will help you feel more in control of your plan and your money.
Confidence
Regularly reviewing your plan is an essential part of the financial advice I give going forward. We are planning for the long-term and the relationship we build together will help you feel confident that you are on track to achieve your ambitions. Our review re-visits clarity, comprehension, choice and control and what’s changed since we last met.
“It’s a very big thing when you are talking about your livelihood and I can’t sing his praises enough.”
“Toby listens to care, he cares about people and what we do. That’s what Toby does. It may sound corny to say he’s a truly “nice person”. If he was crap at finance, I wouldn’t employ him."
“Toby is a good listener and I noticed straight away that this is a big plus point in the relationship. I was quick to understand the level of knowledge needed and because Toby listened well, he engaged with what I wanted. Toby then came to my house and met my wife and did an assessment of my and Lucy’s attitude to risk. We had regular meetings and set up our investment. The relationship has gone very well. Toby doesn’t bother me if there is no need. I always feel he’s available if I need him.”
“Toby had a huge impact and played a big part in my future. I have nothing to compare with, but I have friends with an IFA and know he provides a service far above what they receive.”
